Felipe Massa drove like his brother during parts of the 2010 season, according to Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo.
The Brazilian, runner-up to Lewis Hamilton in the 2008 season, struggled to match the performances of new team-mate Fernando Alonso.
Massa failed to win a race and finished 108 points behind the Spaniard.
“At a certain point in the season Felipe was fed up and sent his brother,” di Montezemolo was quoted as telling Italian journalists by Reuters.
“For this Felipe gets 7 minus. For Alonso, in his first season in Ferrari, I give him 9 and a half. But unfortunately even he didn’t win.”
The Italian also downplayed rumours that he was planning to leave Ferrari to go into politics.
“Let me do my work, I’m so happy that we have lots to do here at Ferrari, lots and lots,” he said.
