- Go on to your elbows and knees, holding hands together with feet slightly part.
- Push up so that you're on the balls of your feet, facing the floor with your tummy held in.
- Hold for as long as you can - say a minute or two.
Lower Abs Crunch
This is a variation onthe stomach crunch.
- Lie with your knees in the air and your hands on the side of your head, elbows out.
- Bring one elbow up to meet the opposite knee before repeating on the other side.
- Repeat six times on each side.
Side Bends
This exercise targets the oblique muscles at the side of your stomach.
- In the standing position place one hand up in the air with the other hand down the side of your body. Stretch up with the upward hand and bend you upper body sideways like you want to reach out and touch something with the hand that is bent over your head. With tiny movement keep bending over. Switch sides and repeat this movement with the other hand.
NOTE: When switching side you must bend your knees to come out of the exercise.
5. Relax
Taking time out and chilling can also give you a flatter stomach! Really, this is no joke. Stress can make you body produce a hormone called cortisol, which prepares you for 'fight '. This in turn contributes to raising your blood sugar levels to produce extra energy, and any sugar you don't use up is then stored as fat.
If you are stressed for a prolonged length of time fat deposits are encouraged to be stored in, you guessed it, the abdominal area.
Make sure that you unwind after a demanding day, relax and have a long soak in the bath, or try meditation or yoga.
