It has been proven that weight loss can be achieved through consuming particular types of food, and quite recently a study has shown that weight loss from the stomach area can also be achieved through eating certain foods.

In this article you will find out which foods induce weight loss and can help you to lose belly fat.

The first food is protein, considered to be the best fat burner to lose weight and belly fat:

1. Protein

Includes any meat, fish or poultry.

Eating protein for weight loss became popular many years ago through the Scarsdale Diet and more recently through the Atkins Diet. These diets advocated eating a pure protein diet with little or no carbohydrates. Whilst these diets worked they lacked momentum because in the real world they were difficult to maintain.

To be honest it is not surprising they do not last because the majority of people who followed them could not face a life without carbs. Could you imagine never eating bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, fruits, muffins, cookies or chips every again? No I don't think so!

Nevertheless, protein is an excellent weight loss food. The tip to using it in your diet is to change the composition of your meals. So in order to lose belly fat and lose weight generally your meals should contain 50% protein, 20% carbohydrates and 30% vegetables.

For weight loss purposes food preparation is also important. Only use baking, steaming or broiling for your cooking methods. Avoid frying, and when consuming poultry always remove the skin, and cut off any fatty pieces on the meats before eating.

2. Good Carbohydrates

We all know that carbohydrates is the fuel that gives us energy but can also be the food that aids weight gain. Therefore in order to lose weight you have to choose good carbs.

Good carbs are foods that do not spike your blood sugar levels too quickly, that digest slowly and keep you feeling fuller for longer in between meals

Good carbs include:

  • Breads - Rye or Pumpernickel
  • Cereals - Oats, Oat Bran, All Bran, Shredded Wheat, Muesli and Weetabix
  • Rice - Basmati Rice and wholegrain
  • Noodles - Wholegrain or made from rice
  • Potatoes - New potatoes or a small baked potato

Vegetables - are carbohydrates and provided they are properly prepared make an excellent addition to a meal. Salad items, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes , celery, beetroot, carrots are also good carbs.

Fruits - good fruit carbs can be found in apples, grapefruit, oranges, pears, berries (all berries), plums, peaches and nectarines.

3. Dairy Supplement

Dairy products are necessary to maintain calcium levels and build strong bones. They also help to burn fat and lose belly fat. The dairy foods you should include in your weight loss diet are:

Eggs - Which is also a protein. You can eat eggs, boiled, poached or as an omlette. Eggs are one of the hot fat burner foods when it comes to fast weight loss.

Milk - Quite surprisingly milk contributes to fast weight loss and the calcium in milk is known to speed up a person's metabolism

Yogurt - Has the same fat burning qualities as milk.

4. Add Some Spice To Your Life!

Adding heat in the form of spices such as cayenne pepper; salsa, hot peppers and mustard stimulates the body’s metabolic rate and thereby speeds up weight loss.

Spices are natural thermogenic foods, and the hotter the spice the greater the metabolic boost you will get.

5. Chocolate Delight

Another surprise. Who would believe that by adding chocolate to your diet you can lose weight and belly fat as well?

Adding small amounts of chocolate (no more than 150 cals per item) to your diet can help you attain your weight loss goals. You will not feel deprived whilst on a weight loss diet and you will also stick to the plan if you can have the occasional chocolate treat.

6. MUFAs The New Weight Loss Food

MUFAs = Monounsaturated Fats, and is the new weapon in the fight against belly fat. It is amazing how these fats actually burn fat.

Originating in the Mediterranean MUFAs were found in foods like olives, olive oil, and nuts, which the mediterraneans consume every day.

Studies have shown that diets that contain up to 40% fat are more effective at helping people lose weight. It's a case of fighting fat with fat, but not just any old fat, it has to be good unsaturated fat.

MUFAs are an incredible in the battle of the bulge because they specifically target belly fat, so that when you go on a reduced calorie diet that is high in MUFAs you not only lose weight but you lose belly fat..

Here are some MUFA foods to choose from.

  • Soybeans - Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips - Macadamia Nuts
  • Almond Butter - Pecans - Pine Nuts - Cashew Butter
  • Peanut Butter - Brazil Nuts - Walnuts - Hazelnuts
  • Olive Oil - Green Olives - Black Olives - Avocado
  • Flaxseed -Safflower Oil - Sesame Oil - Peanuts
